Social Justice and Human Rights Committee of the Legislature-Parliament had an onsite inspection of the transitional justice mechanisms- Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the Commission on Inquiry of Enforced Disappeared Persons. These Commissions are formed to investigate into the conflict-era crimes.
The Committee team led by its President Sushil Kumar Shrestha directed the Commissions to submit their reports within the stipulated timeframe. However, the officials from both Commissions complained that they were short of resources for full fledged functioning.
TRC Member Manchala Jha informed the Committee team about the activities TRC carried so far.
However, CIEDP Spokesperson Professor Dr Bishnu Pathak said the CIEDP was preparing to accomplish it duty despite the lack of resources and necessary laws.
