CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has claimed that the constitution amendment bill should not be allowed to pass under any circumstances. in a mass assembly programme organised by nine opposition parties including the main opposition CPN-UML against the constitution amendment bill organised in the Capital on Friday, Chairman Oli claimed the amendment proposal put forth by the government is against the national interest, and hence, the opposition would not allow it to pass from the Parliament.
“We will launch this campaign in other parts of the country as well. We will not remain silent when our national interest is being compromised,” said Oli, while addressing the mass assembly at Bhrikutimandap today. He went on to say the amendment proposal was not the demand of Nepali people and it was brought to serve the interests of a ‘third party’.
Oli said the amendment proposal on the issue of language was a conspiracy to dismiss Nepali language and other languages of Nepal. Saying that the proposal has been motivated by serious conspiracies, the former prime minister said, “The amendment is brought with intent to end our Bhojpuri, Maithili, among other national languages, and institutionalise the Hindi language.”
“Our ancestors have taught us how to fight,” said the former prime minister, adding, “We have not learnt to become submissive. Therefore the public have started speaking against the submissive mentality.”“Madhesi parties only won 11 seats from Madhes. UML has alone obtained 40 seats,” said Oli in a threatening voice, “Do not think that Tarai folks can be fooled.”He announced that an awareness campaign will be soon held from Mechi to Mahakali.
