Rupandehi under general strike in protest of Tiwari’s murder

BUTWAL – The CPN (UML) aligned youths and students in Rupandehi have taken out a demonstration in protest of the daylight murder of Youth Association of Nepal (YAN), Rupandehi Chairman and Devdaha’s youth entrepreneur, Durga Tiwari, by unidentified assailants.The students have announced a general strike in the districts within the Lumbini zone including Rupandehi from today in protest of the murder. They had taken out a demonstration and blocked transportation on Monday, YAN Central Secretariat member, Dev Raj Pokharel said.
Pokharel blamed the negligence on part of the police administration for the daylight shootout that killed Tiwari and added that the agitation would continue until the perpetrators are booked. He said the agitation was not just in Rupandehi, but all the districts in Lumbini zone.
The strike has disrupted normal life with long and short route vehicles staying off the road and educational institutes including factories and industries closed down.
