Kapil Sharma moved his popular comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show (previously known as Comedy Nights With Kapil) from Colors to Sony Entertainment in the beginning of 2016.The Kapil Sharma Show has worked wonders for the channel: Not only has this meant a big upward spike in the channel’s ratings; he seems to have been single handedly responsible for revamping the channel’s numbers.
Kapil’s brand of comedy has become so popular that he is now commanding a whopping Rs 60-80 lakh per episode for his current season.
With the who’s who of Bollywood visiting his show every weekend, the announcement that it has been greenlit for renewal is not surprising at all. A source told DNA, “SONY TV has signed The Kapil Sharma Show on for another year. And they have renewed Kapil’s contract till 2017 end.”
