Bahadur Rayamajhi, a leader of the ruling CPN-Maoist Centre, announced
on Friday he will vote against any Constitution amendment proposal that
seeks to split Province 5. Rayamajhi said it will make no difference to
him even if the party takes action against him for voting against such a
proposal. Rayamajhi, speaking at a face-to-face that Reporters’ Club
Nepal had organised, said: For me, the country and the people are most
important. The party comes after them. There is no dispute over Province
5, Rayamajhi pointed, adding that splitting the province will serve no
one. He said: All parties in Province 5 are against splitting it. People
will launch a movement on their own if anyone tries to change its
boundaries. Meanwhile, NP Saud, a leader of the ruling coalition partner
Nepali Congress, stressed the need to proceed with the Constitution
amendment process by taking the main opposition CPN-UML into confidence.
