Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the constitution amendment bill registered at the Legislature-Parliament would be endorsed at any cost. NC President Deuba said this while addressing a mass gathering organized by NC, Baglung Constituency-1 here on Saturday on the occasion of 41st National Reconciliation Day. “The amendment bill would be tabled at the parliament. It would be endorsed by all means. We are determined to get it done from the parliament,” Deuba added.
He accused the opposition parties including CPN-UML of acting against democracy by keeping the parliament hostage. Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, urged the opposition to end parliamentary deadlock and asserted that, “The parliamentary process would advance despite disruption”.
“Disrupting parliament does would to augur well. It would move ahead following the process”, Deuba said, adding that, “Oppositions have the right to get the bill disapproved; let them defeat us through the process”.
He reiterated that the incumbent government has come up with amendment proposal in consistent with earlier agreement reached between NC then President Sushil Koirala and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.
Leader Deuba clarified that the government has put forth the constitution amendment proposal to keep national unity and reconciliation. “The country belongs to all people. Our nationality would not be strong by distrusting Madhes”.
“It is the Madhesi people who reside along the border and defend the country. There is a need to make unity among the Madhes, hill and mountainous regions robust”, leader Deuba noted.
