It was a winter afternoon in Lalitpur back in 2004; inside the premises
of Studio 4, amidst a crowd of hundreds of Nepali Tara aspirants, there
was one Deepak Limbu, waiting for his turn to take the auditions. This
was the first time the budding singer was going to perform in front of
professional musicians and he was well aware that he would be tested for
how he presented his skills. He was a regular performer at the local
music shows happening around his hometown, Dharan, but this one was a
different show—the first competitive musical reality show in Nepal.Limbu
was determined to give it his best and come across well in front of the
judges in order to pave his way forward—to continue doing what he loves
to do the most. Limbu climbed up the stage and sang the classic Aaja
Bholi Harek Saajh, by Narayan Gopal. Impressed with the young man’s
talent, the judges (Deepak Jangam, Bimala Rai and Alok Shree) decided to
send Limbu to the next round. He eventually went on to win the whole
competition.
